Enthusiasts anticipating the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait too much longer. An exciting playable preview will become available on January 7th, providing a generous taste into the game's initial chapters. Critically, all progress achieved within this demo is eligible to be transferred directly into the full game upon its eventual release.
More Than a Simple Remake: A Thorough Reimagining
This project is a from-scratch reimagining of the iconic year 2000 RPG, originally titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant departure from other series re-releases, like the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this remake utilizes a striking three-dimensional aesthetic. The world are designed to resemble detailed dioramas, with protagonists sporting a whimsical stylized design.
"Even with the previous port, the narrative was remained exceptionally extended. Consequently, the team came to a conclusion that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an adventure for today's gamers."
Major Gameplay Changes and Updates
The creators has implemented a host of enhancements to streamline the original experience. These include:
- Expedited Overworld Encounters: Similar to contemporary role-playing games, weaker foes can now be dispatched directly on the field eliminating the need for entering a separate turn-based battle screen.
- Variable Combat Pace: Gamers can speed up combat animations to quickly power through less challenging encounters.
- Expanded Vocation Mechanics: A brand new job class was created for this remake. Additionally, party members gain the option to take on a second vocation, greatly expanding customization depth.
These refinements are designed to tackle a key the 2000 title's frequent criticisms: its considerable length. The initial storyline was known to require more than 100 hours to finish. This new version was expressly structured to enhance pacing and reduce any repetition.
